Pros and Cons of Social Media for Businesses

Social media can grow your business faster than almost any other resource. Don’t avoid it! Your fear, confusion, or bad experiences might seem to justify a hands-off approach. But doing nothing outweighs the risk of trying.

Social media is like surfing on the ocean; there’s room for everyone! Take up your board, slip into place, paddle out strong, and wait for what comes. You get to decide whether to catch the wave or let it pass. It could be a gentle swell that carries you smoothly to the shore or a monstrous wall of water that demands every bit of strength you have. When you see an opportunity, take it!

If you’re a business owner, especially one who hasn’t fully dived into social media yet, this article is for you.

Here at JamboJon, we want to help you suit up and paddle out past the break. With a little trial and error, you can ride your marketing wave with confidence. Will you be the picture of perfection from the start? No. But social media isn’t going away. Yes, there are risks AND rewards that will take your business farther than you ever dreamed.

Don’t Be Afraid of Video Marketing! Let’s Explore Why.

If you’re a business owner, video marketing is no longer optional, it’s essential. Customers want to see you, hear you and experience your brand before they ever buy from you.

Think of when you shine a flashlight into a dark cave. You take a few timid steps in the dark, stumbling over rocky terrain as your eyes adjust. The second you swing that band of light in front of you, the path reveals itself. When you take a chance on using video and reels for your marketing campaigns, you begin to see new opportunities, not just shadows.

Video reshapes marketing because it snags attention in ways text and static images can’t. Next to Google, YouTube is the second largest search engine (Texas A&M, 2025). Algorithms on social media push video to the top. Audiences stop scrolling to watch a quick reel, and they remember more of what you say. A 20-second reel shows your product’s value faster than a full-page copy. Even more powerful, 84% of people say a brand’s video convinced them to buy a product or service (Outbrain, 2025). Businesses that use video on their websites see average conversion rates of 4.8% compared to 2.9% without video (WebFX, 2025). Those results change the game completely.

Through the Binoculars: A First Look at Large-Language Model SEO

Imagine standing on a rocky ledge, binoculars pressed against the bridge of your nose. In the distance, you spot something on the horizon. What do you make of it? A new shape rises into view and turns toward you. Before you know it, it’s right in front of you. The shape blocking your view answers the question, “How does AI impact search engine results?” Marketing professionals call it large-language model SEO (LLM SEO). You’re not sure, but it feels like the ground is moving underneath your feet.

Right now, most of us produce content written for traditional SEO. You optimize your website with keywords in specific places so Google uses it, ranks it, and (hopefully) places you near the top of the search results. You want to be that glowing blue link at the top – the coveted spot everyone sees first.

But the landscape is shifting.

Think about it. Lately, when you search for something online, you don’t see a website hyperlink immediately at the top of the page. Instead, AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, and even Google itself, pull information straight into an instant AI answer. In fact, a large percentage of online searches don’t end with a website click at all.
