Customizing the Ultimate Adventure in Website Design
The Journey Begins: Setting Out on a Bold Expedition
Koaxis thrives on precision and possibility. As the leader in custom coaxial cables and assemblies, they set a new industry standard with its online RF cable builder – a fast, flexible platform that enables their clients to customize and ship high-performance cable assemblies within 48 hours. For organizations like Boeing, the Pentagon, and other major players who can’t afford to wait, Koaxis delivers exactly what they need, when they need it. They needed a website update worthy of that same innovation. One that communicates their state-of-the-art capability and matches the power of the tool that changes how their customers build.
Koaxis envisioned a website that was even more intuitive, visually appealing, and user-friendly, while keeping their existing cable builder – a tool at the heart of their business. They knew the change would require merging two different platforms, OpenCart and WordPress. While this required detailed research and collaboration, JamboJon wanted to bring this vision to life.
A Destination Worth the Effort
JamboJon worked closely with Koaxis to meet their specifications for every page. Just like Koaxis customizes cables, JamboJon adapted to their needs. This partnership required an adventurous blend of collaboration and control. JamboJon made sure Koaxis’ vision remained intact while steering the project toward a cohesive, functional outcome. Above all, the JamboJon team had to preserve their crown jewel, the cable builder, that allows clients to design their coaxial cables in real time. With it, they can visualize every option (material, length and color), and then have it ordered and shipped within 48 hours.
Unfortunately, this tool existed inside OpenCart, but OpenCart does not connect directly to WordPress. To bridge the gap, JamboJon had to figure out how to integrate the two sites seamlessly into what felt like one cohesive platform, while managing intricate back-end interactions. This meant collaborating with a specialized development team in London to customize code, resolve integration challenges, and achieve the client’s precise goals. JamboJon also reduced the number of API calls to keep up the website speed to reduce the server load. Finally, JamboJon adjusted the content to humanize Koaxis’ brand. The old site was written for engineers who already knew the technical jargon. But their audience wasn’t just engineers; it also included others who needed to understand the value of their cables without being overwhelmed by technical language.
At JamboJon, we thrive on customized adventures like these. With Koaxis, we charted a course, overcame obstacles, and arrived at an inspiring destination.
