Stress Relief Doesn’t Have to Be Stuffy
Have you ever wanted to create an emotional experience for your clients? One that grounds a person, connects them with other people, contributes to a worthy cause, and makes the friends laugh out loud? Tall order, right? I’m sure the first time someone suggested “goat yoga,” a few eyebrows were raised. You can hop online and find gatherings, clubs, support groups, and nights out for something to do any night of the week. But rarely do any of these ideas take you by surprise.
When Tina Hazlett approached JamboJon about her new business, Girl Power Puzzles, ’ we knew this was another “outside the box” idea. Just as goat yoga brings a sense of calm and connection to body and mind, with a few giggles in between, Tina wanted the Girl Power Puzzles website to do something different. She wanted to collaborate with local female artists to showcase their work. More than anything, her website needed to change the perception of puzzles, just like goofy goats changed the idea of yoga. She wanted to show how puzzles could be a stress-relieving escape, amusing, therapeutic, and a way to connect with friends–and nothing like grandma’s dusty jigsaw puzzles!
“I love all of our calls. Thanks for making me feel like a tech savvy human. I am eager to get GPP off the ground and you have been a HUGE help.”

Finding the Perfect Balance
Tina’s vision for her website required focus, flexibility, and a lot of careful adjustments along the way, like perfecting a yoga pose. Since we wanted movement, color, and interaction, we opted to “drop” digital puzzle pieces onto the screen. However, getting those digital puzzle pieces to land perfectly across various screen sizes–whether on extra large monitors, desktops, laptops, tablets, or mobile devices–proved trickier than expected. The fall needed to feel effortless, and yet, behind the scenes, required meticulous coding and endless rounds of testing to make sure each piece landed just right.
In the end, designing the Girl Power Puzzles was all about striking the right balance. Adding movement, but not too much to distract from the product. Embellishing with whimsical elements without overwhelming the calm. Keeping a light, carefree tone without taking away from the seriousness of supporting talented artists. Reframing the traditional view of puzzles might feel “out of the box,” but that’s exactly what we set out to do.
- Custom coding allows puzzle pieces to “fall” effortlessly.
- Quirky line drawings on a scrolling carousel display serious facts about connection.
- Pop up columns, movement and color palette capture the playful emotion.
